Please remember to contact your captain or your team selector
if you are unable to attend training.
At
Tiffin Netball Club we place strong emphasis on our training
sessions as it is a time when we focus on:
| • |
the technical side of netball |
| • |
perfect
set sequences of play |
| • |
address
any problem areas of the game |
| • |
work
on our levels of fitness through training drills |
| • |
team
building |
All of the sessions are planned and structured in such a way
that over the season all of the areas above are covered.
Since
fitness levels are imperative to good netball and fewer injuries,
there is a dedicated period to work on our fitness levels
at each session.
Netball can be classed as a burst-activity sport which involves
bursts of spasmodic, explosive energy with interim periods
of lower-level activity or rest. The emphasis on training
for these sports is muscular strength along with flexibility
and agility. Short-term endurance is also needed.
Following a structured training plan ensures that the risk
of injury is to a minimum. Since netball is theoretically
not a contact sport there is limited risk of injuries through
fractures. However there is still the risk of a strain where
the injury is to a tendon (connects muscle to a bone) and
a sprain which is an injury is to a ligament (connects one
bone to another).
Whilst high fitness levels won’t guarantee an injury
free season they certainly go along towards ensuring a long
and active one.
